Research: Evaluation of the Childcare Offer for Wales
The Welsh Government has published an independent evaluation of the implementation of the Childcare Offer for Wales. The report, Evaluation of the early implementation of the Childcare Offer for Wales: year two, shows that overall, the second year of its implementation were positive with parents reporting they are either financially better off, able to afford more formal childcare and/or improved their employment prospects.
The evaluators have recommended the Welsh Government give further consideration to a number of areas, including:
- Encouraging further consistency in early years education policies
- Continuing a focus on more and clearer information for parents on the range of funding options available to help with childcare costs
- Continued information guidance and support for local authorities in relation to identifying and checking the employment eligibility of some self-employed parents.
