Are you enthusiastic, organised and interested in working with children and young people?
Newport City Council is currently seeking to appoint Sessional Playscheme Supervisors to join our Play Development Team, to help deliver a wide range of sessional Playschemes across Newport during the Summer Playscheme 2019. Ideally, Newport City Council is looking for individuals who have experience of working in Playschemes. This post requires you to travel between two sites on a daily basis.
Newport City Council recognises the significance and the value of play in children's development and their innate desire to seek out opportunities as part of their play and learning. As a supervisor, you will work as part of a team to provide opportunities for all children to explore both themselves and the communities they live in. This involves both indoor and outdoor activities, so you should be willing to work with the natural elements, get messy and generally ensure that the children have fun. In addition to this you will be responsible for contributing to the general day to day organising of sessions, to the required standard.
Playschemes operate on an open access basis which allows children to choose when, and for how long they stay in the play setting. As the Sessional Playscheme Supervisor you will ensure the team are involved in the planning and delivery of a programme to give children the incentive to play and be able to recognise when activities and the play environment needs to change.
The Playschemes operate in various areas of Newport throughout the holiday. You will need to be fully available from Monday 29 July - Friday 23 August 2019. There will be a training week prior to the Playscheme starting. Attendance is mandatory.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
